About the Artist in Residence:
Liew Choong Ching – April & May 2005
Completed a series of 25 paintings for his solo exhibition-
Tropical Reflections – 20 – 31 May 2005.
Liew grew up in a small village in Jerantut and spent a lot of time
during his childhood in the midst of indigenous people. This started
his fascination and interest with them that eventually lead to his
very first venture into art - the orang asli series.
Throughout Liew’s artistic exploration he has lived in various
places including the east coast where he captured the essence of life
of the Malay fishing community. He then moved on to Bali. Back to
Malaysia and was the first artist in residence at Bon Ton Resort Langkawi.
Liew continues to observe and sketch nature’s tropical beauty.
